Darla Jean (Moore) Sheets

Darla Jean Moore Sheets, 69, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2026 while at her home. she was the daughter of late Ardith Jean Huffman and Dale E Moore. She is also predeceased by one infant son, Frank Guzek.

Survivors include her daughter, Julie Cruz Mendoza of Cherryville, NC; son Danny Guzek (Jennifer) of Moundsville, West Virginia; grandchildren include Richard Barber (Heather) of home, Ethan Cruz Mendoza of Cherryville, NC, Hunter, Matthew, Alexis Guzek of Moundsville, West Virginia; great-grandchildren includes Kelsey Barber of Valdese, NC, Victoria, Madeline, and Wyatt of Moundsville, West Virginia; step-great-grandchildren include Chandler and Marissa Dunbar and Kaden Whitworth all of the home; sister, Chrissy Suitor (Brian) of Lenoir, NC; brother, Curtis Moore of Lenoir, NC. 

She was one of the first women to work in the coal mines of West Virginia. She was retired from Sherrills Furniture. Darla was a loving mother, daughter, wife, grandmother and sister. She will remain in our hearts forever. 

Services will be held at a later date.
